GOLF TIPS |
Putting Basics
Putting can be broken down
into three simple segments,
mechanics, distance control,
and green reading. This
section will be dedicated to
the basics and mechanics of
putting.
Set up
1.Grip: palms face each
other and both thumbs down
center of shaft
2. Aim: set putter blade
square to target at address
3. Stance: feet, knees, and
hips, shoulders all parallel
to target line
4. Posture: narrow stance,
arms hang below shoulders,
eyes over ball
Stroke
The stroke is a pendulum
motion involving a one piece
swinging of your hands,
arms, club shaft, and club
head. The body should stay
as quite as possible.
General
If you want to become a good
putter you must dedicate
time to practice. Develop a
practice routine that
encompasses working on
mechanics, short & long
putts and green reading.
Dedicate as much time to
putting practice as you
would full swing practice
and your game will improve
much faster. NOTE: Only
after a golfer has
sufficiently learned the
putting basics can they
begin to work on distance
control and green reading.
