Summer is here already as evidenced by the Summer Bash which was held on June 27th.
This year’s one day Member Guest is still open for late sign ups, so if you haven’t signed up, there is still a little time left. We only have six slots left and the last day to sign up is July 10th. Non members of the PMGA who are Pinewild residents are eligible to play as a guest of a PMGA member.
Mike Weisser has reported that all the preparations for the Jack and Jill tournament are complete for the July 18th Event. Cost is $15.00 per person which includes a lunch after the event being played on the Magnolia course. A cash bar will be available. The format will be an elimination scramble with max handicaps for men of 36 and 40 for women. The Club has agreed to provide free range balls prior to the 8:30 am shotgun start. Good luck to all the participants.
The PMGA’S next away game is scheduled for July 15th, 2003 at Whispering Pines. The cost is $30.00 which includes lunch and the PMGA will provide $5.00 per player for prize money.
The September away game is still being negotiated and we will have more information on the event and venue later.
In October we will return to Foxfire for the away game and it will also be $30.00 for the day including lunch and prize money.

PINEWILD WOMEN’S GOLF ASSOCIATION
Welcome to the good ole summertime. But even with all the rain we have had a few of the ladies are playing some of their best golf. Lynne Davison shot her personal best of an 85 on the Holly Course and Sue Wilson shot her best ever of a 97 on the Magnolia Course. Way to go girls!
The Moore County Women’s Amateur Golf Championship was played at Longleaf Country Club on June 10th and 11th. I’m proud we had five winners. In the 2nd flight, Ginger Lash won 1st place, 3rd flight, Peggy Clark won 3rd place, 4th flight, Marilyn Otto won 2nd place, 5th flight, Anne Amspoker took 2nd place, and 10th flight saw Carol Smith take 1st place and Mary Fahy take 3rd place. Nice playing ladies!
On June 5th we held our NC State “play day” along with another Ace of the Day “play day”. I am happy to announce Pat Williams took those honors. She had a wonderful net score of 66 and will receive the charm.
There are many more fun events coming up for the PWGA. To name a few we will have the PWGA-PMGA Jack and Jill event which was a lot of fun last year, play with the pro, Sadie Hawkins and the Solheim Cup. On July 22nd we will hold the first of two mini guest days, so start thinking of someone to ask. Amy has some special games planned.
Our annual summer meeting was held on June 24th. Todd prepared a wonderful breakfast for us and the turnout was great with more than half our membership playing that day. At this meeting the new club “slow play” policy was presented.
In closing I would like to express a special thank-you to Janet Waters for decorating our dining room for both the Pinetops and Tar Heel tournaments that Pinewild hosted in June. A sign-up sheet is in the locker room to play golf at Pine Needles on August 11th. What a special treat! Try to stay cool and hit them long and straight!

TENNIS NEWS
Have you seen the new Tennis Pavilion??? Accolades from all the tennis players to the Club and everyone involved with the new addition to our facility.
Our membership continues to grow. We now have our largest group playing mixed-doubles on Monday mornings from 9 to 11. On Monday afternoons, the Ladies’ 3.5+ level play from 4 to 5:30. Wednesday morning the Ladies’ [all levels] play from 9 to 11 and on Wednesday afternoon the Men play from 4 to 5:30.
Our annual social dinner was again a great success with about 50 or more people in attendance. Many want to make it more than an annual event, and that is under consideration.
On July 3rd, 4th and 5th, the USTA will hold a major event at Pinewild which will take up three courts – Come on out and watch some great tennis!!!
