…UPDATE…GREENS RENOVATION ON THE HOLLY GOLF COURSE…

Needless to say, the current situation we all find ourselves in, brought on by the Covid 19 Virus, continues to be a challenge for all. However, Ownership has agreed to fund the capital needed to complete the renovation project associated with the Holly Golf Course green complexes. This project remains scheduled to start June 1st, and continue through July 31st.
Amongst numerous other tasks, some of the process will include…
  • Continuing to renovate some of the bunkers on the Holly.
  • Add drainage to some areas which have been issues in the past.
  • Prior to June 1st, removing some of the bent grass off some select Holly greens to expand a “nursery” for future use on other bent grass greens.
  • Prior to June 1st, spraying the green surrounds with a herbicide to kill some of the 419 Bermuda grass.
  • After June 1st, all the old bent grass and the surrounding 419 Bermuda grass will be stripped, additional herbicides applied, greens mix will be added and “floated” and then the greens and surrounds will be re-sodded with Zoysia grasses and 419 Bermuda.
  • The end result being greens which will have been “put back” to their original size and shaping, with a proven heat tolerant grass which will be able to withstand many of the shaded areas on the Holly.
With this in mind, please see the following as it relates to this renovation period…
  • The Magnolia, Azalea and Challenge courses will remain open during this time.
  • Play on the Magnolia will operate off #1 Tee on all days with tee times starting at 7AM.
  • The number of available non-member tee times have been significantly decreased.
  • It is suggested that if Members would like to play off-site, advantage be taken of our reciprocity arrangements with many other Clubs in the region. This program is available for both members and their accompanied Guests.
  • Understanding that there are many variables affecting the process [including the weather] as the Holly renovation moves forward, parts of the Holly course may become available for play prior to August 1st. Due to the fact that the greens are getting sodded, they will be playable much quicker than seeding or sprigging.
Ownership/Management appreciates your patience and support of the aforementioned as we embark on this important project, as we see it being a great opportunity to continue to move Pinewild forward. Additionally, THANK YOU for your support as we have gone through these unprecedented times over the last 60 days.

Sincerely, Christopher Little, PGA
Club Manager
