Local & Regional Play for Women

Pinetop:

Pinetop is open toall women golfers who are members of PWGA. Matches are played from April through October at the following local clubs: Pinehurst, Whispering Pines, FoxFire, Southern Pines, Seven Lakes, and Pinewild. Each club may send 12 players and 4 alternates. Only the 12 players play for points, but everyone plays for prizes! The tournament is Peer Play and players are flighted by handicap. Prizes are awarded per flight for Low Gross, 1st Low Net, & 2nd Low Net. At the end of each season, the club scoring the most points holds the Pinetop Trophy for the year. (More than 16 players may be able to participate in Pinetop as long as the Host Club can accommodate more players).

Scores are posted by the ProShop as Tournament Rounds. Equitable stroke control (ESC) should be applied to the score.


Interclub:

Interclub is open to all women golfers who are members of PWGA. Pinewild has two Interclub teams and all members are invited and encouraged to sign-up. Teams are to be fielded by the 16 eligible players with the lowest handicaps of those that signed up, seeded in ascending order and playing to a maximum index of 25. Five matches are played each year beginning in May at various local courses: Pinewild, CCNC, Fairwoods on 7, Pinehurst, MidSouth, Southern Pines, Whispering Pines and Foxfire. The format is 4-ball Match Play and the points are totaled after each round and accumulated through the five months. The team with the most points wins a trophy.

Scores are posted by those members playing an Interclub Match as Tournament Round. Equitable stroke control (ESC)should be applied to the score.

Tar Heel Women’s Golf Association:

Tar Heel is open to all women golfers who are members of PWGA and playing to a maximum USGA index of 32.9. Eight one-day and one two-day tournaments are played each year beginning in March at various courses in North Carolina: Pinewild, Governor’s Club, MacGregor Downs, Coharie, Pinehurst #9, Cape Fear, River Landing, Pine Valley, Wilson and Highland (Fayetteville).

Scores are posted by those members playing a Tar Heel Tournament as a non-tournament Round. Equitable stroke control (ESC)should be applied to the score.

Sign-Up Specific Information for Pinetop, Interclub, and Tar Heel

Pinetop Tournaments

A. Each club may send 12 players who play for points and prizes and 4 alternates who play for prizes

B. If more than 12 players sign up, a lottery is conducted to determine the first 12 players who will play for points and prizes. The next 4 players will be alternates who will play for prizes, and substitute if one of the 12 players cancels. If there are additional golfers, they will be alternates who will play for prizes only, as long as the Host Club can accommodate more than 16 golfers.

C. The Sign up sheet will be posted approximately 3 weeks before the tournament.

D. Checks must be in 18 Hole Lock Box as noted on the Pinetop Invitation.

E. One week cancellation notice is required to have money refunded (or as noted on the Invitation).

F. Course handicap is limited to 40 or less.

G. In case of inclement weather, each club has an Inclement Weather Policy for golf that will be invoked if needed. However, in all cases, lunch will be served and it is encouraged that
you attend. The Club has already ordered the food, and the cost of lunch is included in your payment.

Inter-Club I & II Team Matches

A. All PWGA members may participate in Team Play; however, participants must play to a maximum index of 25.00 or lower.

B. A minimum of 8 rounds must be played and posted on the player’s home course (s) in the current year prior to the week before the first team match is played.

C. Additionally, a minimum of two rounds (at least one on the player’s home course(s)) must be played and posted in the four weeks before the week that the Team is chosen.

D. The eight (8) PWGA members with the lowest indexes of those who sign up indicating availability will comprise the Interclub I team.

E. The next eight (8) PWGA members with the lowest indexes of those who sign up indicating availability will comprise the Interclub II team.

F. A sign-up sheet will be posted in the Women’s Locker Room and a check will be given to the Interclub Captain the day of play. The cost will be provided on the sign up sheet.

Tar Heel Women’s Golf Association

A. All PWGA Members may participate in Tar Heel and will play to a maximum USGA 32.9 index.

B. The Sign-up sheet will be posted in the Women’s locker room and a check must be deposited in the Lockbox by the deadline date.

C. Tournament fee, including cart fee, will be refunded only if a player notifies the host club of cancellation 48 hours prior to play.
