PINEWILD WOMEN’S GOLF ASSOCIATION
Spring has finally sprung, the birds are singing, flowers blooming, and the pine pollen has flown. Although our Tuesday play day weather hasn’t always been ideal, we have had only 1 cancellation to date. Our membership ranks have grown to 180 with renewals and new members.
A belated ‘You Go Girl’ congratulations to Janet Clark for her Hole-in-One on the Holly 3 in the Member/Member. Judy Connelly has had another ‘Hot Shot’ round, 79 Holly Red.
April has been a busy month. Everyone enjoyed a delightful Li’l Abner tournament. Unfortunately, we lost a play day to the Tarheel event. Thanks to everyone who took the opportunity of playing in the Tarheel event. Congratulations to our first ‘Ace of the Day’ Nancy Reutter, alternate Hester Ham.
Holly vs. Pines was held on April 18th. Always hotly contested, congratulations goes to the Holly teams for being victorious. This was also the ‘Penny Per Stroke’ day for support of Junior Girls Golf. The NCWGA appreciates our donation.
The PWGA Member/Guest was on April 25th. The Ladies were looking forward to smooth sailing on the S.S. Magnolia. In addition to cruisin’, everyone had the opportunity for some fun and relaxation at the on board cocktail and casino party the evening before sailing.
Upcoming events in May, there are 3 ‘Ace of the Day’ play days and the PWGA Matchplay tournament is scheduled for May 9, 12, and 16. The sign-up sheet is in the locker room. Let’s get a full field out for this event. If that isn’t enough golf for you, sign-up for Pinetop at Seven Lakes on May 16th and don’t forget Tarheel at Raleigh on May 18th. The season opener for Interclub I is May 11th at Southern Pines. Interclub II’s opener is May 25th at Whispering Pines. Interclub I will have their second match at the same time. Whew, busy month!
So everyone get out there and swing it. Whether the shot is straight or errant, just have fun.

NINE-HOLE LADIES’ LEAGUE
It is hard to believe, but IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN FOR THE POPULAR HUSBAND/WIFE TOURNAMENT.
It is scheduled for May 7th. Please be sure to sign-up early, we have a limited amount of spaces. Check for the sheet in the Ladies locker room. Golf starts at 4:00 and dinner will be later. In case we are cancelled due to foul weather, we will still meet for dinner. This is a very popular event with everyone. It is a scramble, but our husbands are limited to the number of clubs they can bring with them. In addition, the men are always anxious for the opportunity to play with a “Pink” golf ball. You may be paired with your own spouse or somebody else’s. It is a fun-filled event for everyone.
Results of the game will be posted in next month’s Perspective. Also, be sure to check out the photo album in the ladies locker room for pics of the event.
The Nine Hole Ladies League is an organization for golfers that enjoy having fun playing non-competitive golf. We play on the Azalea Course on Tuesday mornings. Most stay for lunch following play. If you are interested in joining us, just call Sue Rantala at 910-215-4518 or Fran Mellios at 910-215-0738 for information.
Remember to watch your pace of play.

NEWS, NEWS & MORE NEWS…
I trust that all are enjoying the good spring weather, and playing lots of good golf. May is a very busy month, with many events planned.
The renovation of the front nine of the Magnolia Golf Course is on track, and will begin on the 5th of June. More information will be available when the Magnolia Renovation [email bulletin] gets “cranked-up” and sent out in the very near future. The Magnolia & Holly will once again operate as 27-holes, and we thank you in advance for patience as we work through the improvements.
The Pool Facility will be opening on May 22nd, and the applicable Pool Rules are enclosed in this newsletter. PLEASE take time to review these rules, and share them with other family members who will be utilizing the pool this summer. For safety reasons, it is imperative that the Rules be followed, with those not abiding by the Rules risking the loss of this privilege. New this Year…we will have a “sign-in” roster which must be completed in FULL by ALL Member and Guests who enter the facility.
We are once again hosting our Junior Golf Camps over the entire summer. Over the last few years, many members took advantage of enrolling their immediate family and/or grandchildren in the program. This is a great way to get introduced to the “game of a lifetime”. More information and entry forms are available at www.pinewildcc.com in the Golf Academy section, or in the Golf Shop.
