PINEWILD WOMEN’S GOLF ASSOCIATION
July certainly presented us an exercise in endurance. Here’s hoping the worst of the extremely hot weather is behind us.
Those of you who were able to play in the heat, I’m glad there was plenty of water and ice available from our able rangers who certainly came around as much as possible.
Don’t forget to sign-up for our upcoming tournaments. Sadie Hawkins is scheduled for September 22nd, but as of this date has been fully subscribed. Our Solheim Tournament is set for October 10th and 11th, so get a partner and look for the sign-up sheet.
We have a couple lowest scores to report: Debra Smith had a 78 on the Holly Red and Debbie Regula also had a 78 on the Holly Red this past month. Congrats to both of you.
Remember to let Sandy Gruin know if you are interested in volunteering for any committees during our next year’s golf season.
Because of the heat we have enjoyed a great pace of play and no problems with our three nine rotation. However, now that the weather is about to break, all of the tee times in each wave, (7:30 to 9:20 and then 11:20 to l:40) will probably be utilized. This may cause a delay on the turn to the second nine, and we are asking for our members patience during this transition.
Enjoy the remainder of the summer and play well.

NINE-HOLE LADIES’ LEAGUE
Hi Everyone,
It feels like the weather is finally starting to break. I noticed the leaves are just starting to turn in the woods. There is nothing like golf in the fall. The colors are always so beautiful. Beginning September 6th the Nine-Holers will begin there Fall schedule. We will meet at the clubhouse at 9:30 and Tee off at 10:00. Also that day we are hoping to have some guests from Long Leaf. Barb will make up the foursomes including both Longleaf and Pinewild players. We will play our own game. No prizes but hopefully the Longleaf group will stay for lunch. Sounds like a fun day.
We have everything all set for the 9/ 18 Hole Tournament on September 13th. Both groups have filled up their slots, so we will have 72 golfers. There are waiting lists for both groups, just in case of cancellations. We have a wonderful lunch menu planned…Napoleans (Choice of Chicken or Shrimp Salad) layered between crisp Wantons, Asian Slaw with Ginger Tomato Vinaigrette dressing along with Carrot Nut Muffins and DESSERT French Chocolate Silk Pie with Raspberry Sauce, Iced Tea and Coffee. Sorry ladies, lunch will be for golfers only this day. The Tournament committee has set-up 14 prizes to be awarded. We will have he results of the tournament in the next newsletter.
In the mean time, “keep your head down, and go all the way around”.

NEWS, NEWS and more NEWS!!!
The year is passing us by quickly, but we still have much planned.
Thanks to those members who attended the Advisory Board’s Annual meeting on the 25th of August. The Advisory Board works as a conduit between the general membership and Ownership/Management. Thanks to the members who served recently and will be leaving the Board…Linda Critzer [Chairperson], Art Dube, Ron Ham, Judy Mills and Rich Rantala…“Your support of Pinewild Country Club of Pinehurst is sincerely appreciated”
New members joining the Board are Fred Berry, Cal Erdman, Rick Grieshaber, Ginger Lash and Carol Pitzer.
We hope you have enjoyed the pool facility over the past season. Please bear in mind that the pool season will come to an end on the 19th of September. Several years ago we added some BBQ grills to the tennis pavilion; this area remains a nice added amenity…great for an evening cook-out. Please note the pavilion is available on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Thanks to the members for their understanding as we proceed through the renovation of the back nine of the Magnolia. The 27-hole rotation seems to be working well, and we have heard many favorable comments as to the pace of play and the variety of the Holly & Magnolia combined.
Although being a little behind schedule, the renovation itself is going well. The quality of work and the “new” look to the holes will enhance the playability and challenges of the Magnolia. As we proceed through the back-nine, we are “fixing/upgrading” many areas that have constantly being issues. One example of this being the right-hand side of the cart path on #10…this area has always been thin, so we have added significant irrigation to alleviate the problem. Another, is a significant amount of additional cart paths. These improvements will continue as we proceed throughout the nine.
Members can get out and look at the work that has been done…please however do be careful as there are numerous hazards & moving equipment.
Keep it in the short grass, and thanks for your cooperation and support.
