PINEWILD WOMEN’S GOLF ASSOCIATION
October was certainly a busy month for PWGA members. First, we had our Solheim Cup Tournament and then our Queen of the Hill Play-off.
Many thanks to Karen Wirt and Nanette Prosser for chairing the Solheim Cub…this year we had a full field. Because the weather did not cooperate, play had to be held on one day instead of two, but Karen and the Pro Shop were able to work out a formula for play that was enjoyed by all. Thanks to all. The results of Solheim are as follows:
Overall Winners…Jean Grieshaber and Carol Pitzer
First Flight…Grace Hill and Anne Wright
Second Flight…Phyllis Clark and Marie Gilbertson
Third Flight…Marilyn Mahan and Cynthia Weller
Congratulations to all.
Our Queen of the Hill Tournament was held on the actual scheduled day this year. No weather delays for this tournament. Our participants came ready to play and the spectators enjoyed watching them. Thanks to Talie, Sean and Hope for running this tournament, and the maintenance staff for setting up the Challenge Course. It was in great shape. The Aces of Day who participated in this Tournament were Carla Jones, Judith Kelly, Marilyn Zimmerman, Sandy Schnare, Jean Greishaber, Jean Weiler and Florence Miller. Our Queen of the Hill for 2005 is Florence Miller. Congratulations to all participants and Florence, enjoy your reign as Queen of the Hill. “HAIL TO THE QUEEN”
We finally have another Hole-In-One to report. Sue Wisnewski is the lucky lady who joined this elite group. We also have a lowest round ever to report for Ellen Sherman, she had a 76 on the Holly Red on September 29th. Congratulations ladies.
Here’s to another month and half of good weather for our play days.
Play well, Gay Strojny
NINE-HOLE LADIES’ LEAGUE
Well can you believe it, the 2005 golf season is about to come to a close. November 1stwas our last round of golf and our closing luncheon followed. Another wonderful lunch was organized by our tournament committee. Birdie awards were given out and other prizes for the year. We also had our election of officers for the 2006 season during the luncheon. So stay tuned to this article next month to get the results of all of the above.
Although the Nine Hole Ladies golf season will be officially over, Nine-Holers will continue to meet at 9:45 on Tuesdays to play some unorganized golf. We will tee-off as foursomes arrive. This is one of the perks of living in North Carolina, we can play golf year round. Until next month, drive for show and putt for dough!

NEWS, NEWS and more NEWS!!!
I trust that you are enjoying the great fall weather, and planning for the Holiday Season.
The good warm weather has helped with the “grow-in” of the newly renovated back-nine of the Magnolia Golf Course. All is on track to have the nine opening by the 1st of March 2006. We sincerely thank the membership for their understanding and patience as we have conducted the renovation.
Congratulations to the winners of the 2005 President’s Cup/Club Championship, they were as follows:
Men’s Club Champion was Duaine Robertson [220 for 3 rounds gross], with the Men President’s Cup winner being Phil Keel.
Ladies’ Club Champion was Carol Pitzer [234 for 3 rounds gross], with the Ladies’ President’s Cup winner also being Carol Pitzer.
Thanks to all the participants, it was a great event because of your support
Mark your Calendar – Friday December the 9th is the date for the MEMBER’S SHOPPING PARTY where you can get some great deals on gifts for Christmas from the Golf Shop. The frenzy will start at 4:00PM.
With the onset of the colder winter months…please pay attention and respect the “Court Closure” signs on the Tennis Courts. As the courts are freezing and thawing throughout the day, we want to eliminate any chance of damage to the courts.
Just a Reminder related to the courts…
To receive Tennis information on court conditions…please call 910.295.0358
If morning rain or frost closes the courts, and then in the afternoon they can be reopened, the aforementioned phone number will not have that information. Please call the Golf Shop if this situation occurs at 910.295.5145
Additional information on the condition of the courts can be found on the web athttp://www.pinewildcc.com/MemberSite/facilityconditiond2015.html
As many members have noticed, we have again used the “email bulletins” much more this year, but not all members are receiving this notice. An email bulletin was sent approximately every two weeks this past year, containing useful “up-to-date” information on the facilities, the course renovation and upcoming events. If you have not been receiving emails from the Club, and would like to do so, please take a moment to email me (chrisl@pinewildcc.com), so that we may capture your email address and therefore forward information to you in the future. Also, if your email address has recently changed, we would like to know and update our records.
Please note that this publication contains information for both November & December. A shorter December issue will be available on the web, and will be sent via email to those whom have registered there email addresses with the undersigned.
On behalf of ownership and the entire Pinewild Country Club of Pinehurst staff, we wish you and yours a safe and joyous Holiday Season.
Christopher Little, PGA
Club Manager
